Tom Mitchell

2011 Head Coach

Tom is a Level 4 USA hockey coach that has been coaching youth sports for the last 16 Years. Tom has experience coaching hockey players from 4 to 18 years of age.Tom coached the 2011 Royals Gold AA team for 7 years, where he won a DVHL Championship, AHF championship, and multiple tournament wins including a Silver Sticks invite.Tom is very excited to get started in his second season with Revolution after having a very successful 24/25 season! The team has made tremendous strides from the previous seasons and is looking forward to the growth that can come in 25/26!He has coached the Central Bucks East Middle School team for the last three years and enjoyed an SHSHL championship win in 2023. Tom is also assisting with the CB East High School team, where he helps with the Defensive Group and Goalies.Tom is dedicated to the game and continues to seek as much knowledge from anywhere he can get it. He prides himself in having great preparation for practice and game day protocol. He makes sure that each of his players is involved mentally and physically to the game!

Josh Haines

2013 AAA Head Coach

Josh is entering his fourth season as part of the Philadelphia Revolution coaching staff. Josh has previously been the head coach for the Revolution 2013 AAA team the last three seasons, and served as Co-head coach for the Revolution 2010 AAA team the last two seasons. During his playing career he has spent time at the youth level with multiple originations including Team Comcast and the Philadelphia Revolution. Josh is a proud alumni of Revolution where he grew as a player from U16 AAA to Junior A in the EHL. Josh spent his Junior career on the East Coast , playing for multiple organizations. Coach Josh is dedicated to developing and advancing the youth hockey community. Additionally, he strives to help his players grow into great people on and off the ice, by teaching accountability, work ethic, discipline, and leadership skills.

Chris Kanaly

President - General Manager/Director of AAA Hockey

Chris Kanaly is the outspoken and fierce leader of the Philadelphia Revolution Hockey Program. He has a passion for the game and for the Organization that is second-to-none. Coming into his 15th season with the Revolution Organization, Kanaly has over 25 years of Coaching and Management experience from the youngest levels of youth hockey up through and including the professional level. During his illustrious tenure with the Program, he has sent over 150 Student Athletes to the NCA A Level. He now continues to mentor and coach multiple players who continue their careers in the NHL. His reach goes well beyond the Philadelphia and New Jersey markets. Chris is also the Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL and serves as a Regional Scout for the NAHL Maryland Black Bears. During his 14 years with the Revolution, he has changed the culture of the program to one that focuses on player development and advancement. The Revolution are now "The" Organization in the Philadelphia market when it comes to developing the Complete Hockey Player. His leadership has brought upon a following of coaches and players that proudly wear the Red and Black.

Artem Gumenyuk

Skills Coach

Philadelphia Revolution Skills coach Artem Gumenyuk is originally from Kharkov, Ukraine. He was a member of the Ukrainian National teams at the World Championships (U-17, U-18, and U-20) and finished in 2nd place at the 2008 IIHF World U-20 Championship in Denmark. He spent two years as a starting defenseman for Division I South Kent Prep School in CT. Gumenyuk was the second All-Tournament Team Defensman at the Beantown Classic Tournament in Boston, MA in 2008.While earning his Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Sociology, Gumenyuk made the Dean’s List and played four years as a starting defenseman at Manhattanville College in NY playing Division III hockey. He was twice selected to the ECAC West All-Academic Team two years in a row. Gumenyuk also led the team in plus-minus for two seasons, led the team in goals by a defenseman for one season, and tied the team for lead in game winning goals for one season. He signed ECHL tryout agreements in separate seasons with the Reading Royals and Elmira Jackals.Gumenyuk was always around hockey and sees himself staying with it for the rest of his life. He gained coaching experience with the Old York Road Raiders and now works with the Philadelphia Revolution teams as a skating coach. He believes that the players should take it serious every time they are on the ice, bring the right attitude, listen to their coaches, and work hard. Gumenyuk advises, “You should never ever think of yourself as too good or think you have nothing else to strive for, then you stop developing.”

Peter Crocker

2016 AAA Head Coach

Peter Crocker, a native of Bucks County, PA, has been within our pipeline for the Royals organization for the past 5 years. Peter has served as head coach of the Royals 2013 and the Philadelphia Resistance. Starting his career as a Lawrenceville Flame, his passion for hockey grew immensely at a young age. Coach Peter continued his journey playing all 4 years as a Council Rock Varsity forward, which afforded him the opportunity to play in Prague, Czech Republic, and Helsinki, Finland. Coach Peter continued his journey playing Division 1 ACHA at West Virginia University. Being a Level 4 USA Hockey Coach, he looks to bring his passion for the game and desire for excellence for all players within our organization.

Charles Sgrillo

2015 AAA Coach

As a player, Charlie played for the Valley Forge Minutemen, Team Comcast, and won a 16U National Championship with the Hollydell Hurricanes. After playing Junior A in NJHL he played ACHA D1 hockey for Temple University. Charlie was a Lead Instructor at the International Ice Hockey School in Pisek, Czech Republic, where he studied how to develop highly skilled players . Charlie has been a Level 4 USA Hockey coach for over 10 years. Off the ice, Charlie also has had great success in inline hockey. He is currently the Director of Player Development for the USA Inline National Development Program. As a player in this program, he won two World Championships and as a coach, has won 5 World Championships. Charlie is a systematic, but offensive-oriented player-coach. Having played and won at both the national & international levels he understands players on a deeper level. Instilling life success skills such as communication, trust, and perseverance, Charlie does not only look to build successful athletes but professionals & leaders of tomorrow.

Chad Conicello

2014 AAA Head Coach

Chad is entering his third year as a member of the Philadelphia Revolution coaching staff. He has served as the Head Coach for the Revolution 2014 AAA team the past 2 seasons. In previous years, he served as a Tier I assistant coach within the Atlantic District and as a head coach within the our Tier II program for the Royals Organization. Chad holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from LaSalle University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Neumann University. During his time at Neumann, he was a four-year forward on their NCAA Division III team.Before his college career, Chad played Tier I hockey for various programs in the New Jersey/Pennsylvania area and captained the hockey team at Saint Augustine Prep School.With nearly 20 years of coaching experience, Chad emphasizes the values of accountability, hard work, and personal growth while striving for team success.

Chris Chairmonte

2012 AAA Head Coach

Chris started his youth hockey on the roller rink from a young age, earning numerous MVP trophies for his exceptional skating ability, great hands and hockey IQ. Transitioning to the ice at 9, he excelled on various club teams and played for Bensalem's varsity squad, earning two-time LBCSHL all-star honors in high school. Venturing into junior hockey where he played both defense and forward in the MetJHL and EJHL, Chris showcased his prowess in skating, stickhandling, and on-ice vision. Despite receiving offers to continue his playing career, he chose to prioritize family, marking a transition to coaching. Since 2018, Chris has been a pivotal figure in coaching Pennsbury Ice Hockey. His leadership led to two middle school championships as head coach and another as JV head coach. Joining as the varsity defense coach in the 2022-23 season, he contributed to the team's victory in the AA Flyers cup championship. Beyond team success, Chris has trained many hockey players, notably guiding players to the Peewee Quebec team and providing the opportunity to skate with NAHL teams at the early age of 16. His coaching also extends to his stepson, Jason, elevating him to AAA hockey, enhancing his hockey IQ, and helping guide him to Junior hockey. Chris's coaching philosophy mirrors his playing style, emphasizing creativity with the puck, discipline, and a strong work ethic. His passion for the game and dedication to player development makes him an invaluable asset.

Brendan Johns

15U AAA Coach

Coach Brendan is entering his second season with the Philadelphia Revolution where he served as an assistant coach and video coach for our 2010 team. Brendan brings a variety of experience to our organization. During Brendan’s playing career he spent time playing for different organizations on the East coast including Team Comcast, Long Island Gulls, Mercer Chiefs, and is a proud alumni of the Revolution. Brendan competed for a state championship and USA Hockey National Championship. Coach Brendan played Junior A hockey at the NCDC and EHL level. Brendan not only brings great knowledge and experience to his players, but he focuses on his coaching philosophy of accountability , discipline, work ethic, and culture.

Joe Kennan

15/16U AAA Coach

Joe is entering his third year coaching for the Philadelphia Revolution. Coach Joe previously served as an assistant coach for both the Revolution 2014 AAA team and Black Bear National Academy 18U team. Joe has an extensive playing history that includes playing Junior A both in the United States and Canada, and is an alumni of the Revolution at the Junior A level. Coach Joe also has had professional experience at Mentor Ice Breakers in the FPHL and for the Tibro IK in the Sweden 2 league. His diverse background and passion to encourage and help develop the next generation of hockey players makes him a valuable asset to the Revolution coaching staff.

Brandon Spognardi

16U AAA Coach

Brandon Spognardi brings a wealth of experience both as a player and leader to his coaching role. A former standout NCAA hockey player at Fredonia State University, Spognardi played under Head Coach Jeff Meredith, where he honed his skills and leadership qualities.Before his collegiate career, Brandon had a distinguished junior hockey tenure by being a proud alumni of the Philadelphia Revolution. Brandon played his final two seasons, and served as team captain for the Revolution’s EHL team. In his final year with the Revolution, he had the opportunity to play under the guidance of Coach Keith Primeau and Coach Tyler Hostetter. Spognardi’s leadership on and off the ice helped elevate the Revolution's competitive edge in both the regular season and playoffs.Brandon’s hockey journey began with the Philadelphia Little Flyers Program, where he laid the foundation for his later success. A four-time varsity letterman and state champion at Central Bucks South High School, Spognardi was recognized for his commitment to excellence and his impact on the ice from an early age.With a strong background in leadership, discipline, and high-level hockey experience, Coach Spognardi brings a dedicated and insightful approach to player development and team building.

Introducing Peter Chairmonte, a highly skilled and passionate strength & conditioning coach with a CFSC (Certified Functional Strength Coach) certification. With a focus on training young athletes through college and professional levels, Peter is dedicated to helping individuals maximize their potential. Having a background in boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA), Peter brings a unique perspective to his coaching. As a current boxer and experienced fighter, he understands the physical demands and mental fortitude required to excel in combat sports. With a wealth of experience from numerous amateur boxing fights, Peter has honed his skills and gained valuable insights into discipline, technique, and the dedication necessary for success. Now driven by a passion for developing young talent, Peter creates tailored training programs that enhance overall athleticism, build strength, improve speed, agility, and endurance. His approach emphasizes the importance of proper technique, injury prevention, and mental resilience, providing athletes with a solid foundation for both their sport and life. Peter's coaching style is characterized by his ability to establish strong connections with his athletes.
